Brief description of the research:

The research program continues the department's previous research, this time with the following additions: a) our questions focus specifically on the phenomena of the "post-media" era in relation to moving images created both within and outside the framework of institutional cinema, b) we pay special attention to local, regional, and Eastern European phenomena in our field of investigation, c) in terms of research methodology: we supplement media theory perspectives with other perspectives, such as phenomenological or cultural-anthropological perspectives on representation.
From a general theoretical perspective, the aim of the research is to systematise the trends and lines of thought found in international literature and to deepen the theoretical concepts that have proven productive in describing the post-media phenomena that underlie the research. Through the analyses carried out in the research, we aim to investigate the "accents" of cinematic language in contemporary Eastern European cinema, with a special focus on media aspects. We attempt to describe and analyze some of the fundamental stylistic trends we observe in contemporary Eastern European cinema.
Among other considerations, we pay particular attention to examining representations of media use in films, as well as exploring intermedial phenomena and figurations found in films, representations and self-representations of regionalism and the private sphere in post-communist films, both in works created within the institutional framework of film production and in amateur films, where the aim is to observe and describe the everyday uses of moving images and to describe the so-called "naive theories of the media," that is, the images of the cinematic environment formed in everyday thinking.
