This year the Jameson CineFest International Film Festival (http://www.cinefest.hu/eng/nyito_eng.html) had its 8th edition at Miskolc. Besides the competition program, the festival every year brings into focus a Hungarian-born filmmaker, with screenings, exhibitions, conferences and workshops dedicated to their oeuvre. In 2011 the Cinefest audience celebrated István Szőts, whose feature Emberek a havason [Men on the Alps] was made 70 years ago, and next year is his 100. birthday. Four students from Sapientia University (Attila Bán, Zsolt Benkő, Anna Búzás, Orsolya Láng), under the guidance of our production manager, Orsolya Tóth, participated in this workshop. Their task was to make short films that recreate or allude to features from the films and oeuvre of Szőts. These pieces were screened on the last day of the Cinefest Festival, in the company of other workshop-films.
