LOST ANALOGUE: An Innovative Film Education & Collaboration Project
20/01/2025 03:30 PM
The LOST ANALOGUE project, which ran for 16 months with the participation of Sapientia EMTE’s Film Department and supported by the Erasmus+ program, concluded in January. The project introduces a fresh perspective to film education by rediscovering analog techniques and fostering collaboration across various artistic fields. Under the guidance of the Transylvanian Hungarian Film Association (ACMT), European partners worked together to find creative and innovative solutions for professional training development. In February, the film created within the project will be showcased at the prestigious Rotterdam International Film Festival.
In the project's final month, we present two major studies in English:
The Lost Analogue Educational Handbook, coordinated by the Transylvanian Hungarian Film Association, reveals the behind-the-scenes details of the The Death of Dracula film remake production. It thoroughly discusses the advantages and challenges of using analog techniques, and also dedicates a chapter to the music creation process (composer: Miquéu Montanaro, MIMO) and the experiences of a test screening held at the Ördögkatlan Festival (Hungary), known for its expertise in interdisciplinary art projects.
The Lost Analogue Educational Handbook can be downloaded HERE.
The evaluation report by the Hétfa Research Institute, titled “CELLULOID CONNECTIONS – Developing Creative Skills through Analog Film and Music Collaborations” provides a comprehensive assessment of the project's outcomes. It describes the educational process and how international cooperation supported cultural and educational innovations. The report also highlights the project's long-term impact and potential positive changes for the future of film education. Drawing on its extensive experience in cultural research, HÉTFA conducted a qualitative analysis of the project’s processes and outcomes, thereby supporting innovative and interdisciplinary practices in film education.
