Eszterházy Károly College in Eger organized for the fifth time the International Filmmaking Workshop In Memoriam Illés György.
During the two weeks of the workshop international participants created short films (documentaries, fiction and animation films) with the help of filmmakers, teachers of the host college and staff of local LÃceum TV. The workhsop introduced participants to workphases and rules of scriptwriting, production, shooting, editing, image- and sound-making, building upon the creativity and interest of participants. Professional guidance of the workshop has been assured by Csaba Bollók, film director distinguished with the Balázs Béla prize, teacher of the Eszterházy Károly College in Eger and the Midpoint Central European Scriptwriting Workshop in Prague. Creative work has also been supervised by Tibor Tóth, associate professor of the Film Studies Department in Eger, filmmaker distinguished with a number of prizes at Hungarian film festivals. Among guest teachers we may mention such returning figures as Éva M. Tóth or Gábor Ulrich, both distinguished with the Balázs Béla prize, and we should not forget our colleague from Sapientia University, Orsolya Tóth.
This year's International Filmmaking Workshop has been supported by the Balassi Institute and the Hungarian Scholarship Board Office, thanks to whom the creative workshop of the college reached an even wider international recognition, with participants from Turkey, Germany, Lithuania, Greece, Romania, Poland, Canada and the host Hungary.
The gala screening of the two-week course is always awaited, this being the occasion when the creations are projected and prizes are offered. This year the event took place on the 4th of August, in Agria Cinema, and the 11 films made under the auspices of the Slow Film Workshop were offered 5 different prizes.
