Short Movie Festival - 2009

The project Short Movie Festival Youth in Action 2 is promoted and coordinated from the Association EURO-NET of Potenza.

The project is for the moment sustained from Council of Europe and Municipality of Potenza.
The organization Committee of Festival is looking for other supporters and sponsors: who is interested to sustain the initiative, please, contact the Association EURO-NET using telephone (0039.0971.23300) or e-mail (euro-net@memex.it) giving his/her details to be re-contacted.

Project Aim

a) SHORT MOVIE FESTIVAL YOUTH IN ACTION is a festival of short movies completely realised from young people between 18-35 years old about youth problems. Using the movies young people should present themselves; show their point of view and approaching to the community and explain how they intend to realise a real European integration.

b) The Project for sees the cooperation of EURO-NET (coordinator of project) with other partner organization:

1. Association for the Development of Life Skills (Cyprus)
2. Prefecture of Athens Training center (Greece)
3. Pôle International – CILEC 21 (France)
4. Agency of Youth Promotion and Development “Compass” - AYPD “Compass” (Georgia)
5. Media Education Centre - MEC (Serbia)
6. Associação Comunidade Verde (Portugal)
These partners will help EURO-NET in the project preparation, realization and dissemination, especially, looking
for young authors that could participate at Festival with their videos.
The partners can participate also at PRELIMINARY VISIT, to be realised in Potenza from 1st to 6th May 2009
(please see description of Preliminary Meeting) with 1 responsible (leader) for each Organisation, to discuss rule
and themes of videos to be applied at Festival in September.

c) The Festival can invite and host (sustaining a part of travel and accommodation cost as described below) at maximum 33 authors, following an official list that will be published on web site.

We have at disposal the following places for the following countries:

1. Georgia: 3 participants at Festival;
2. Greece: 3 participants at Festival;
3. Cyprus: 3 participants at Festival;
4. Serbia: 3 participants at Festival;
5. Portugal: 3 participants at Festival;
6. France: 3 participants at Festival;
7. Italy: 3 participants at Festival;
8. Bulgaria: 3 participants at Festival;
9. Turkey: 3 participants at Festival;
10. Jordan: 3 participants at Festival;
11. Romania: 3 participants at Festival;
If the places will be not covered from the indicated countries, they will be at disposal of other Nations.

d) All partners have a priority in the entry list for the Festival, with a number of participants (3) indicated in the Project.
All young authors that are not coming from indicated partner Organizations, that would like to compete at
Festival in autonomous form and that would like to be hosted at Festival, could indicate it on ENTRY FORM.

Sections

Movies should be realised in the following 4 categories:

1. World problems (for example: war, violence and religious)
2. Active European citizenship ( active participation in civic life)
3. The world of young volunteers
4. Interculturality and cultural diversity

Each participant or group should prepare one short movie (with a time limit of 30 minutes, including the titles) in one of the indicated sections.
It is not possible to participate at Festival with more than one video in the same section.
It is possible to present different videos (but maximum one) in different sections.
Videos not realized in the indicated thematic sections will be not considered for the Festival and can participate, if possible, only at Festival as “out of concourse”

All short movies must be sub-titled in English.
It is possible to present videos in different format. For the projection it is requested a copy of short movie in DVD or better in miniDV. Also videos (with very good resolution) in .avi, .mov, or mpeg format will be accepted.

5. Modality of participation at selections.

All the young movie makers that are not 36 years old at the date of 21st August 2009 can present their apply to participate at Festival.

We remind you that dead-line to send the material is Tuesday 21st August 2009 (we will control the stamp of post office or courier). In any case movies have to arrive to the address of the international coordinator at the latest 26th August 2009.
All movies that should arrive after this time limit will be not considered valid for the Festival, and only, if possible for the programme, they could participate as video “out of competition”.
